Perfectly 'Back In Beads'...Again!

A few months ago I cleaned out the 'Bead Bins' and all that goes with making Jewelry!  Organized it, packed it up and took it all to my DIL.  I was through making jewelry!  Or so I thought!  Then on a whim I decided to pick up the Teenie Tiny crochet hooks and Super Skinny crochet thread and work on a pair of hoops that the finish had worn off.  Big Mistake!  One pair led to you guessed it...more!
More hoops, more beads, more threads and more stuff to make more!!!
Aren't these peacock feather beads the bomb?
Perfect for the 'Dream Catcher' hoops!
Perfect for 'Christmas Gifts' at my Shop!
Perfectly 'Back In Beads'...again!
On a Smaller Scale!
That Counts!

What to do With Scrappy Art Yarn

So here I am with a collection of 'Scrappy Spun' Art Yarn.  I have emphatically said, "I'm not knitting or crocheting socks, sweaters or any other items that require two of a kind".  I have also made much ado about being a 'Practical Person' with a utilitarian thread running through me.  That translates to useful things...beautiful useful things...I don't make ugly!

What do I do with scrappy art yarn?
I BEAD IT!!!
A 'One of a Kind Necklace' is USEFUL...right?

Day 8 of 12 Days of Christmas Countdown

The Chicken Farm Art Center!
*Here is Day 8 'Christmas Gift Shopping' preview from
Sue's MadeWith Fiber&Fabric Studio.
*For You and Yours...from one Bead, Button & Bauble Jewelry lover to another.
I've tried to explain this 'love of beads, buttons and baubles'...but I got nothin'.
Well, maybe just this one thing....it started at a young age!
Here I am in 1955 wearing a leaning to the left Medallion Necklace and a shoved up the arm Bangle Bracelet.  I can just hear my Mom saying, "Sue, for Pete's Sake, stand up straight, you are slumping to the left, again."  That explains the leaning left necklace.  As for the bangle bracelet...it would have been a saddle oxford ornament had it not been pushed up nearly to my elbow.
On my Birthday...January 20, 1955...I was 8 years old.

MixMaster Fiber Artist

Since declaring myself a Fabric and Fiber Artist with the establishment of Sue's Fiber&Fabric Studio, I have zoomed in on the creativity and diversity of fiber.  Textile Fiber to be specific.

It's good to confirm my thoughts on Textile Fiber that match the official definition which states, 'textile fiber can be spun into a yarn or made into a fabric by various methods including weaving, knitting, braiding, felting, and twisting.

Yay....I'm all in on everyone of those methods.

The essential requirements for fibers to be spun into yarn include a length of at least 5 millimeters, flexibility, cohesiveness and sufficient strength.  Other important properties include elasticity, fineness, uniformity, durability, and luster.  Textile Learner.

At one time, my collection of Fibers...excluding Fabric...was stashed here and there with not much organization.  Now that I am a bit more savy about yarn and it's characteristics of weight, ply, natural, manmade, etc. etc. yada yada, I am more organized...probably over organized.  At any rate, for all my knowledge about yarn and what one SHOULD use for socks, sweaters, shawls and so on, I invariable break all the rules of 'Master Yarny's'.  I am a 'MixMaster'!

Scrap Around The Clock...It's What Quilters Do

As with my Fabric Stash, I have been working on my 'UseIt-or-LoseIt' philosophy with the Bead and Button Stash.  These 'Quilt-Sew' charms have been hoarded saved for ages and, I'm sure by now, can be considered vintage collectibles.
I can't begin to tell you how long I've had the Roman Numeral Clock Disk, or how many times I have tried to 'UseIt'.  Finally, I think it works for this 'Scrap Around The Clock' necklace.

Once I sit down at 'The Jewelry Station' in my Home Studio, and the jewelry juices begin to flow, it's easy to get into a 'Beading Binge'.  When that happens, my inventory grows and two more issues become the next problem to solve....displaying and marketing.
Display...Solved!

Rejuvenating Jewelry Case and Jewelry In June

"Hang on to it...you never know when you will NEED it again".
I'm patting myself on the back for hanging on to an old jewelry case that has been in service one time or another through a family thrift store, umpteen Junktique Booths, and now in Sue's Fiber&Fabric Studio.  All toll, it's spent as many as thirty years displaying shop/booth jewels or covered in dust while awaiting it's next assignment.  So, here it is...Rejuvenated in June 2017...along with a few Vintage Rejuvenated Jewels.
After a Steel Wool scrubbing and polishing, a new padded faux suede lining in the bottom and Windexing the plexi-glass...dadah...ready for Vintage Bling!  Oh, and several pieces of my new BoHo Line of Fiber&Bead necklaces and Wrap Bracelets.
As you can imagine, I am still patting myself on the back for hanging on to this jewelry display case...it's now a 'Family Heirloom' and back in service....as it should be!  If you are interested in seeing more displayed Jewelry...both Vintage Bling and Boho Fiber/Bead pieces...here are links to Sue's Fiber&Fabric Studio Facebook Page.  Thanks for Looking and Liking!

Tool Bar...Download for June

Betcha thought this was about a new Tool Bar App!
I wish it was...I'd be stringing $$$Bills instead of Beads!

As it is, this Tool Bar lineup has the potential to perpetuate Beads to Bucks!  Let me explain...then you will know why this is my first download for June.  June 1st fell on a Thursday,  two days before my biggest $$$Day...or potential for...at The First Saturday Event/Show/Sale.  It happens on the first Saturday of every month, and as a Studio Artist at The Chicken Farm Art Center, I make the most of the days before getting Sue's Fiber&Fabric Studio #15 ready for that Saturday.  So there you have it...my excuse for not kicking off June on the first.

And...here's why it's taken me until today...the 12th...to post in June.
Home Studio Re-Do to make room for Jewelry Tool Bar!
Now I must get busy at the Bar!  July 1st is on a Saturday!
Cheers June!!!

Trending In Bohemian Zelena

Have you noticed how the 'Boho Trend' has caught on fire in Fashion, Jewelry, Home Décor and just about every aspect that pertains to the Design Industry?  I have always been drawn to the Bohemian/Gypsy/Hippie look and culture.  I once was a young wannabe Hippie Girl, but Lone Star Cowboys and Iowa Farm Girls did not raise Flower Children...unless named Daisy, Violet, Rose or even Petunia. Can you imagine...Petunia Sue!

It wasn't until I began researching my Iowa Farm Girl Mother's Family Tree, that I understood why I felt so drawn and in tune with the Bohemian/Gypsy/Hippie culture.  Turns out my Mother left behind her Czech ancestry and converted to Texan when she married a Texas man...that story Love At First Sight.  Truth be told, she was almost as surprised at her Bohemian heritage as was I.  She never knew her immigrant grandparents and her parents were intent on becoming successful first generation American farmers during the difficult years of the Great Depression.
I am So Boho...at least 42% according to my DNA.
Great Grandfather Thomas born in Bohemia Czechoslovakia.
Great Grandmother Sophia...1st generation Bohemia American.

'Zelena'
One of a kind Boho 3x wrap bracelet with Czech glass beads crochet embedded in 4 strands of satin finished Perle Cotton cord. Hand beaded in seed beads, the round closure bead fastens the wrapped band comfortably around a 7-8 inch wrist and slightly looser on a smaller wrist. Bracelet measure 25" from Loop to Closure Bead. Can also be worn as a necklace or ankle wrap.

'Zelena' means green in Czech...the language of my Bohemian Ancestors.

It's All About 'The Details'

The difference between something good and something great is attention to detail. Charles Swindoll

Pay attention to details.  The most important things are often overlooked
in the search for things greater than the obvious.

Details make perfection, and perfection is not a detail.  Leonardo da Vinci

Hummer Time

You know how one thing leads to another?  Of course you do, it's a common malady among people like me who have the 'Dori Syndrome'..."Oh, Look...something shiny".

Turns out the something shiny caught my eye while fishing (pun intended) for clasps for several necklaces I made from a strand of beautiful porcelain and glass beads that belonged to my mother.

Like I said...'One thing leads to another', and before I knew it, my worktable was cleared of fabric, rotary cutters, rulers etc., etc., and replaced with 'Jewelry Making Stuff' and a new idea I have been contemplating....
...combining Fabric/Fiber with beads, chains and charms.

 Hummer Time!

Yarn-Ribbon-String & Bead Bomb

Phase I of my '4R's Bucket List' is done...at least enough so that it is time for Phase II.
With a good inventory of  recycled, repurposed and renewed 'Button, Bead and Baubles' Jewelry, the Studio was reorganized for Phase II.
It looks like a Yarn-Ribbon-String and Bead Bomb went off on the work table!
Just a hint of what is in progress with Phase II.
The YarnARama Recycle-Repurpose-Renew-Resale Phase.
It's going to be a Blast!

Vintage Inspired...Not OverDone!

It has been a 'Vintage Inspired' last few months with vintage buttons, beads and baubles.   That same inspiration is overflowing into the displays as well.

Thank goodness I have a stash of vintage 'stuff/ treasures' to  put into practice what I '4R' preach.  That would be Recycle, Repurpose, Renew and Resale.  It's been an ongoing thread of posts this past summer.

For the vintage inspired necklaces  I have really  reached a new level of scrounging and cheap-scape-ness.  It took me awhile of digging, but I found a burned out light bulb to pad and poof.  A crocheted doily cover was a perfect length to cover the lamps electrical doings once the repurposed bulb was screwed in.  For some of the lamp displays, the cord has been cut, but on this one it was tightly wound around the base and covered with a vintage crocheted collar.  Another doily, a turn table and TaDa...Vintage Displayed Vintage Inspired Necklaces.
And one for Button and Bead Bracelets!
There are a FEW...FUN to make, too!
The First Saturday Event Sale is this coming Saturday!
I will not OverDo!  I will not OverDo!  I will not OverDo!
