SpringTime GetAway in Texas

The Texas Wildflowers are sparse this year due to the drought across the State.
The Bluebonnets are not quite as blue and not near as thick or tall as this time last year.

The Indian Paint Brush is not nearly as red and even more sparse than the Bluebonnets!

Lake Brownwood...is DRY...at least this part of the lake where I spent the weekend.

We walked a mile across what was once the lake bottom before finding the lake.

It was my first time to 'Walk on where Water' once was!

The Dry Lake made for a fun Photo Shoot and a special adventure for 'The Shell Seekers'.

And back at the Camp, the Annual Gals Weekend Retreat at Lake Brownwood was a FunTime with
LifeLong Friends from my High School Graduating Class of 1965!

When you need a break...some time with Special Friends and a GetAway Place makes
Spring Time in Texas a great place to be.

  1. Wow that lake is really dried up. Reminds of when the Suwannee river all but dried up and blew away. There were four wheelers driving down the river beds.
That looks like a lovely place to getaway Sue. Lucky you. I would love to get away on a an all woman retreat somewhere. Not only did I work with my hubby 24/7 I lived with him off shift 24/7. Sometime's a girl needs a break. She needs to be around cackling woman wearing pink and purple and having fun! :) Glad you're back!~Ames

  2. Sue,

Looks like a fun time. My best friend and I used to have "hunting and fishing" trips. We would sew and can and cook and shop and giggle (could have been the wine).

  3. Looks like a fun time was had by the Class of 65. I too was a member of the Class of 65 but have lost track of most of the people due to move from Ky to Arizona. I do get away for weekends with my college gal friends.

The photos of the dry lake bed sure do remind us of the importance of water in our lives. We have many dry rivers here in Arizona. But if we get rains they can flow like a river for a short time. The desert wilflowers didn't bloom this year due to a dry fall and winter. We were in Texas last spring and enjoyed those lovely wildflowers along the side of the highways.

  4. There is a lot of areas affected by drought. Where we were in Florida there was strict water restrictions. Loved that you all had that wonderful getaway.

  6. I can't believe how dried up the lake was!! I know we sure do need rain here in Texas. We went down to the country last weekend and there were hardly any wildflowers on the sides of the road. So sad!
It looks like yall had a wonderful time together. It's so important to have that "me" time with your girlfriends!
Hope your week started off great!

  11. I wish I could send you some of our water!

We are dealing with the largest snow pack in 30 years. It isn't a matter of if it will flood, but where and when it will flood.

What a sweet way to stay connected with old friends...
