AtoZ Letter J...January

~The name January came from a Roman god Janus.  Roman ruler Pompilius gave January 30 days in the 700BC 10 month calendar.  In 46 BC Julius Caesar added one more day and January became the 1st month of the calendar year.
~January's gem stone is the Garnet which represents constancy.
~January's flower symbol is the Carnation.
~The Zodiac signs for January are Capricorn (12-22 through 1-19) and Aquarius (1-20 through 2-18).
~On January 6, 1946 my parents were married.
~On January 20, 1947 I was born.

    1. Yes, Hooray for January! We owe much to the January God Janus and Pompilius...I hope they had better weather in January than we do these days. Although, with climate change...who knows we may celebrating our January birthday's in July weather.

  4. You were a cute baby, with quite a head of hair! I love the dresses on the two women...beautiful. :)

My brothers (twins) and my late father-in-law were born in January, but neither my husband, myself, nor any of our children were. We took over June. David, our oldest son, and our youngest daughter were all born in June. Our youngest son was born at the end of May. Our oldest daughter was born exactly a week before Christmas. She and I have the isolated birthdays. Mine is mid-August. I sure feel sorry for my mama carrying me all through a Southern summer!

    Have a blessed day!

    1. My mother always thought I was a cute baby cursed with my father's head of hair. LOL!!! My siblings had her lovely curls and coarse hair while mine was and still is straight as measuring stick and comparable to cat hair! The photo of the two women is of my blessed hair sister on the left and me with the feather in my hat. It's one of my favorites, too. I agree, poor moms who go through a long hot southern summer in order to bear children, but aren't summer birthday parties fun!

  5. I didn't even know there was such a thing as birthday figurines... They're so cute—and now I want one, haha. But your collection's safe... I'm from February. My partner, though, is from January (12th), and a Capricorn. Which apparently makes a terrible match with Aquarius, but we've been together for 12 years (13 this October). Go figure ;)

Thanks for the visit over at Life In Dogs; I'm loving your comments :)

    1. Oh, you must have a February Birthday Figurine...they are very special with heart and flower symbols. I have several collected in honor of my Mother's February birthday which I have posts about here on CITexas Gal. I too have a Capricorn mate. We have been compatible for over 50 years, so it can be done. Actually, Aquarians are considered the universally most compatible Zodiac Sign.

  6. You have so many interesting things! I also loved the collage of photos (and all that hair you had as a baby - we're all blondes and were lucky to have a bit of fluff on top for the first year or so!) Leanne @ cresting the hill

    1. Thanks Leanne...I have many interests. My mother said it was because I was easily distracted. One of those 'Oh, there's something shiny' things! LOL!!! I wanted to be blonde once...I ended up looking like a 'Tabby Cat'...orange stripped!
