Summer~TimeTravelin for Pink Saturday

I'm still Travelin'!  Yep, this summer has been one road trip after another, and 'That's A Good Thing'!
Come Travel Back In Time with me through a recent PhotoShoot at the Annie Riggs Museum in Fort Stockton, Texas.  We visited there via this post... Vintage Patriotism At The Annie Riggs Museum during the Fourth of July Holidays, and I saved this part of the tour for a Pink Saturday Post.

My favorite room in the Annie Riggs is the Ladies Room.
Let me claify....this Ladies Room has no potty or lavatory.

It doesn't allow visitors to freshen up their lipstick or powder their noses.

It discourages  one from touching the glass and discarding trash.

It's a Ladies Room where ladies wore cream colored dresses with layered ruffles and handmade lace.

It's a Parlor where ladies studied the violin.  (You can hear them now...just turn up your volume)

It's a Place where delicate Victorian Lace Collars and hand pieced album quilts are displayed.

It's like 'Stepping Back InTime'!  It's Magical!
It's a Favorite Place of Mine!

Here I am after 'The Magical Trip Back InTime' in the Ladies Room...Back to 2010!
I am particularly proud of this Buggy as it once belonged to a Rancher that my Daddy worked for
when he was a young Bronc Buster in Grandfalls, Texas.
It was donated to the Annie Riggs when I was a Board Member and it's restoration was one of my favorite projects.
How wonderful it must have been for The Ladies to go for a Summer afternoon Buggy Ride
Down the Hot Dusty Rocky Rutted Trails of West Texas!
Thinkin' about that, I'm really glad to be  back in 2010 and ready to get back on the Road again...
in my Buggy with radial tires, faster engine horses, tinted windows and a cold air blastin AC.
Also, notice I'm dressed for 2010 Summer....

....but I still love those Lace Collars and Long Skirts.
As you can see,  my Sister Connie and I 'Stepped Back In Time' to experience the Lace Collars, Long Skirts and Parasols.
It was a Magical Summer~TimeTravelin Together!

I'm back home now, and we are having a very unusual and rainy July, while I hear some of the rest of Ya'll are having a Texas HeatWave!
So, I'm sending Ya'll these Rain Soaked Roses from my FourBush Rose Garden that's so confused and DisComeBobULated with the weather, it's forgotten the ChainSaw Massacre and just KeepsOnBloomin'

Happy Pink Saturday, July 9, 2010
As Always...Thank-you Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for making Saturday Pink!
Now that we are back in 2010, you don't want to miss the List of Participants!
I'm bettin' some of them may be doin' some Summer~TimeTravelin', too!

  2. Hi Sue Sweetie...
What a beutiful share today. Oh my gosh I so love this ladies room. The dresses are so gorgeous and look at that quilt. (My little grand daughter plays the violin, she is going to be in the 5th grade when school starts. She is oogling the violin as we read.)

I love your photo by the buggy and yes what pride you must have, knowing the person that owned it and being able to assist in the restoration. How wonderful of a project that must have been. You look precious sweetie. Just precious.

Your roses are so fragrant and I love the beautiful rain drops on the petals. I so wish you could send some of that our way out here in Phoenix. It has been hotter than a firecracker out here. Even a cup would do you know?

Thanks for sharing my sweet friend. I have enjoyed this tour. Hope you day is filled with sunshine and rain. A little of both is so special.

    Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

Dresses back then held so much romance, but they must have been terribly hot and uncomfortable. You look adorable in the dress!

  4. Hey, sue, I'm with you totally on the romance vs. the reality of the olden days...My Oma and Opa farmed here in central Texas...no indoor plumbing except one faucet from the well in the kitchen sink and one from the cistern to fill the bathtub. How did they manage in the summer? Sometimes I want two showers a day...that would have been sinful in those days...but their lace and their handwork are enviable...beautiful post.

  5. Thanks for the lovely trip back in time. I'm thankful we don't have to wear as many clothes and long dresses anymore! It's way too hot! Although I'm enjoying the cooler weather the rain has brought, I'm not enjoying the cold I got!!

We bought my "dream house," built in early 1860s and not much update beyond bringing in water and limited heat. This heat wave is giving me a whole new appreciation for the way they lived. I think I want some more modern conveniences.
The past is a nice place to visit...

  7. G'eve Sue ~ Look at you, ladybug ... gorgeous!

What delicate sweet dew kissed roses ... we need you to blow hard & send that moisture our way ... we are fried on both sides, can't flip us anymore! Chuckle!

I love just picturing those times of the ladies dressed in such elegant lace & gowns. Love the pics of your sister ...

My DHs g'ma drove a horse & buggy not unlike this ... the Amish still draw me to the beauty of the horses pulling those gorgeous buggies ... there is such a magic as the horse trots down the road, tail flying high in the breeze as he leads the carriage.

    Have a lovely summer's eve ~

  11. Sue, this is just a wonderful place. I would love to see this, and how neat, too, that the buggy was restored and that you got to help spur that on! NEAT! I enjoyed seeing your period costumes, too.

Hope you are having a great summer. Sounds like you are.

    Happy Pink Saturday...

  15. Great post! i love that museum. My family was from Texas, and although it's been a few years since I've been there, it always has a place in my heart. Mom and Dad lived in East Texas, though, so I'm less familiar with West Texas.

    Happy Pink Saturday!

  17. You and your sister look so adorable in your antique costumes. Now all we need is a picture of you rolling down the street in that buggy to make the scene complete. I adore the white dress to the right on your sidebar on the bamboo mannequin. Have a great weekend

  18. Hi Sue, I really loved the museum photos. Oh, those skinny waists. Love the dresses and that great quilt. The photo of you and your sister is wonderful. You know I love my sisters too. The buggy is awesome. Imagine how hot it must have been back in the day with the clothing and no air conditioning. It is awesome that the buggy was in your family and now in the museum.

Oh the roses with the rain drops showing. Beautiful! We had just a bit yesterday.

We have company again. Thus, a day late with my comments. Good friends, good times.

    Love your travel posts. MORE!!!

    Hugs, Jeanne

    PS: love your header

  20. You ladies look beautiful. And, I love this museum.

The buggy reminded me of a story my grandmother shared. She was once courted by a young gentleman that drove a buggy with a fringe top - just like in the song. But, he didn't win her heart. My wonderful grandfather did.

    Happy Pink Saturday, dear Sue.
