AtoZ Challenge...Dish Designs Do Kitchen Duty

What a perfect fabric for a Dish Collector and an Apronista. 

I happen to be both with cupboards, hutches and shelves full of dishes, and aprons....too many to wear in a month of Sundays.  And we won't go near the numbers made for Sale.

We will just concentrate on the ones made from these two 'Dishy' fabrics.

I don't often shop for specific themed fabric, but finding these kitchen pieces were just what I needed for a newly designed Apron Pattern.


The coordinating fabrics of solids, stripes and circles from my stash could not have been better.  The trick to making them work with the busy plates, cups and saucers as well as the teapots and pitchers is simple.  Use coordinating colors like the turquoise in the cups and saucers, the royal blue in oven mitt and pitcher and the green and brown in the teapots and pitcher. 

Secondly vary the scale of the prints.  Example:  small scale stripes with large scale dishes and smaller scale black circles with medium scale teapot print.  Then go for the Rick Rack, piping and binding.  Easy peasy!

Alas, I don't own a single one of my Pattern Design Aprons.  My model 'Modella' sells them right off her shapely self as fast as I can make them.  She's the best Sales Gal around!

    Now I want one of your aprons! I barely cook these days - my husband does most of it - after 35 years of being the chief cook I'm happy to hand it over! I still love your apronista title and how cute your aprons are (and the pattern thought that goes into them).

    My husband does all the cooking - and I even caught him wearing an apron (not made by a craftsperson) the other day. He never does use aprons - and he's ruined so many clothing items. (I'll also add that he likes to destroy potholders on a regular basis - I don't dare buy anything for him except stuff from the dollar store!) Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
