DMC, as you can see, is embroidery floss. It has been around since the mid 1700's when it's trade name was established after it's French owner Daniel Dollfus and his wife Anne-Marie Mieg ...ie..Dollfus-Mieg & Compagnie...or...D.M.C. You will also notice a J&P Coats skein...yes, they make embroidery thread, too. And I have some of both. Some new and some used. That's why I am dividing. The used I keep...the new...well, it is ready to sell.
First Tray....Done!
Now to find an empty shelf at Sue's Fiber & Fabric Studio.
I think this one will do Dual Duty!
Divide and conquer. I love all of the colors.
ReplyDeleteYou can NEVER have too much thread! We need all those different colors, and, of course, our neutrals, for sewing quilt tops. I had a collection of embroidery threads before I started doing any embroidery (I still don't do that much). I collected other's cast off embroidery threads, so I wouldn't have to go out and find the color I needed, the few times I needed it. Of course, when that color gets low, I have to go out and replace it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up, my mother sewed all the time. I loved going with her to the fabric store. There was an art to matching thread to fabric. Rarely did you need more than one spool for an outfit. You got a lot of thread for the money!
ReplyDeleteI still have some of my Mom's spools of thread (she died in 1965). I may even have some embroidery thread - I did some embroidery for a brief time in my teens. I would never get rid of these memories. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
