Pink Saturday
December 5, 2009
Dear Santa,
How are things up there North of Texas? I used to ask Mama where the North Pole was and she always said, "Sue, it's North of Amarillo".
Since it snowed alot in Amarillo that sounded like a good place to imagine the North Pole. Course that was when I was about ten, and the year you brought my 'Favorite Childhood Memory of Christmas'.
Now, I'm all grown up and then some, but I figure it's better late than never to thank-you for providing that 'Special Memory'! You see, I'm sharing it with some very 'Special Bloggin Friends' on Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly on How Sweet The Sound. I'm thinkin you're on top of the latest Computer Technology, the Internet, the WWW, and Bloggin with all the requests you must get this time of year. Why, I'd be surprised if you're not a 'Secret Pinkie', so be sure and visit all of Beverly's participants for this Special December Pink Saturday!
Santa, I wish I could say I still have Sara Jane. She's been a vivid memory my whole life, and I was 'Snowed-Away' when I found her on eBay. The lady who has her now wants $99 plus shipping. Did you charge shipping back in the 50's?
Thank-you for wrapping Sara Jane so pretty that year. I was so excited to unwrap the box and see her beautiful face through the cellophane window. I was amazed that she was so tall and walked...with my help. And, altho, I was a bit of a TomBoy, and had never had anything but paper dolls, I treasured Sara Jane, and wish I still had her today.
So, Santa, I have been a very good girl this year, and I know that $99 is still alot for a doll, but I'm sure Sara Jane would like to be mine again. I'll pay for the shipping.
Merry Christmas with Lots of XXXXOOOOO's,
Sue

Sue, I love your letter to Santa. I was always very careful in my composition, making sure everything was right. It was so much fun to believe in Santa wasn't it? Truth is, I still do. Thanks to ebay we can find some of our old friends, well preserved and waiting for us. No, good ole Santa didn't charge shipping....he delivered in person didn't he?
ReplyDeleteLove the picture in the snow (snow?) with you with your darling Dolly and Ruby. We got a light dusting of white in the mountains this morning. 'Tis the season. Have a wonderful Pink Saturday.

Hey I sure hope you get your wish from Santa this year! Enjoy the snow in Texas. But when it melts feel free to come to Western New York where we have snow until April, sometimes FEET, rather than inches!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

You look like you are enjoying the snow. We only got flurries here in Harker Heights, but it has been very COLD!! My cousin who lives in Carlsbad, NM said they got six inches! Blessings to you! Vicki
Has anyone ever told you that you look like Diane Keaton???
ReplyDeleteI love your post and you know you could be right, Santa just might be a Secret Pinkie!

ReplyDeleteHugs and glitter, Patti
I too had a Sara Jane, she had felt black mary jane shoes and a pretty dress, yes, she walked. I had many fun times with her. I, like you, have no idea what ever happen to her. I think it's so very funny that your mother told you north of Amarillo. Being that you live in Texas, anyone that has ever been there knows that that is just about the truth. Texas is a HUGE state!! You told a wonderful story this post and I thankyou so much, Happy Pink Saturday, Char
ReplyDeleteThat's a great pic of you with your dogs. A lovely little doll! Pink Blessings!
ReplyDeleteGwen
I'm sure Santa will heed your plea. This was an awfully cute post and I'm so glad you shared your "memory" with us. I hope you are having a wonderful day and are looking forward to the holidays ahead.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great posting, and the doll is just so wonderful! 99 is a lot, I agree, for the doll, wow, it costs a lot to revive a childhood memory, doesn't it! Happy PS! Suzie
ReplyDeleteIf you believe hard enough, I know Sara Jane will be under the tree! What a great memory. I have a friend who just found a Chatty Cathy Doll. It was so much fun to see her excitement. Last Christmas on a Junkin' trip another friend bought an Easy Bake Oven. It is just as much fun to see others find childhood treasures as finding your own. A while back I found a Johnny West Doll that holds terrific memories. It is fun to hear everyone's fond memories and what these toys represented to us. Thanks for posting, you always get me thinking of happy memories.

Oh, I am so hoping you get Sara Jane again! I just know she's missed you, too! Wonderful post. Have a great week! Twyla
ReplyDeleteSue, you are so cute. I'm glad you got your snow.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I have my fingers crossed that Santa will deliver Sara Jane to you once again. I would chip in on the shipping, too. ;-) She is a beauty.♥
Love your post! What wonderful memories of Sara Jane...
ReplyDeleteCute picture of you with your pets!
Hope you have a great day!
Dear sue, I must tell you this is the most wonderful letter to Santa. I loved reading it sooo much. I must catch up with your posts as I have sadly missed so many. I have not had much computer time for a while now. Finally my obligations and Christmas preparations are done. Now on to my most fun thing I do. Visiting my blogging friends and more often. I have missed you gal.
ReplyDeleteLove that it snowed and I love you with the pups. Mostly, I hope you get Sara Jane.
Hugs xoxo, Jeanne
