I feel like I have been all over the place here on CollectInTexas Gal, at work, in the sewing studio, at the Chicken Farm First Saturday, wherever and whatever else I've stuffed in May.
I reviewed this blog's May posts I realized I really was all over the place with topics and photos...not to mention changing 'Header and Background' a jillion times. I think a lot of it was the after effects of April's Intense Focus on the AtoZ Challenge.
Anyway, here it is the end of May with friends of our son, Greg and Laura getting hitched last weekend. Another special couple, our son and wife, celebrated 15 years of marriage.
They were married on Son's birthday, so it's a double celebration...which we always recognize with cards for each occasion. Fifteen years ago they had a traditional Texas Wedding with traditional ceremony, reception and all that goes with what we 'older generations' think how a wedding should be. Here in Texas it's not unusual for the bride and her attendants to arrive in a horse drawn buggy and for the newlyweds to leave the same way. Like I said, it was a Texas Old Fashion wedding and remembering it made me wonder how my son and wife will deal with their daughters 'Modern Marriages' in this age of technology. Here's a sample of what may be in their future....
'Modern Marriage Messages'
Daughter Texting to Dad and Mom...I'm coming home to get married, soooon. Get out your check book...LOL!!! I'm in love with a guy I met on a dating website, became friends on Facebook, had long chats on Whatsup and he proposed on Skype. My beloved parents, I need your blessing, good wishes, and a really BIG wedding.
Lots of Love....and thanks,
Your Loving Daughter
Dad and Mom's reply...also Texting...Our Loving Daughter...Like Wow!!! Really??? Cool!!! Whatever! We suggest you two get married on Twitter, have fun on Tango, buy your kids on Amazon, and pay for it all through Paypal. And when you get fed up with this new husband...sell him on eBay.
L.O.L.
Dad and Mom
And That's A Wrap!
OH, that is too funny! Hurray for mom & dad!
ReplyDeleteIt cracked me up, too. I sent it to my son and daughter-in-law...they both saved it on their Facebook for future use. I haven't gotten a reaction from my two grandgals.
DeleteSo many weddings! You've been very busy, Sue!
ReplyDeletexoxo
One wedding to go for this summer...so far. Yes, I've been busy...always am and hopefully always will be...I'm not all that good at doing nothing.
DeleteI don't know how we got married before Pinterest. My sister does wedding flowers out of her home. Brides come to her with Pinterest printouts of their dream bouquet. It's nice to have inspiration, but so often the flowers they think they MUST have are not available here or are budget-busters or are the wrong season.
ReplyDeleteYep, that Pinterest is a Bridal/Baby/Graduation/All Holidays/Anything and Everything one can think of OverDoNess Blowout!!!! And I'm all In and Pinned to it, too. So much cleverness! My DIL does SILK flowers for the events she helps with.
DeleteThat is just great, Sue! Loved mom and dad's come back!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it Nancy. The buy your kids on Amazon is a hoot.
DeleteHa! For a wedding gift, will you set up a blog for your hypothetical newlyweds? Seriously: Have never heard of the arriving and leaving in the horse drawn buggy custom but...wait...years ago, here in New York, I think I saw something like that. Maybe they were Texans? Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteFun idea...hypothetical wedding gift registry....Oh...I think Target does that already, but I bet it could be a pretty funny post. I'll think on it. Yes, the New Yorkers probably were transplanted Texans.
DeleteI like the final line of selling him on Ebay. Very clever. You have had a busy, busy May but it's been a very fun and colorful month. Take a deep breath and we'll see what June brings..........bet it's busting out all over. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat last line was quite a punch line...LOL...my son thought so, too. He said, "I'm going with that when the time comes". I'll be doing as much deep breathing as possible before June get's as busy as May. I kinda wouldn't mind a 'Lazy Hazy Day of Summer' every once in awhile.
DeleteHilarious! That probably has more truth to it than not!
ReplyDeleteYes, very funny! Truth be told I had to Google a couple of those Social Media's. Really??? Whatsup is for real? I thought Tango was a "Dance"...so much for my Social Media knowledge.
DeleteMe too! I have to sometimes Google them when one of my teen grands want to download it to their phone. I have two teens living with me and being a monitor is sometimes hard work!!
DeleteLOL! Just precious! Have a great week Sue!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Sue .. such a great read ... and yes I wonder what will happen ... and what else someone can dream up for us to socialise with .. perhaps they might invent a person to meet up with ... cheers and enjoy the summer - Hilary
