Turkey Platter...Could It Be A Spode?

Just because the Acorn China Cabinet is 'Something Special' doesn't necessarily mean that all of it's contents
are True Treasures of Sentimental or High Dollar Value.

Such as the 'Transferware Turkey Platter' which was a 'Gotta Have It Quick' kinda thing when the one I'd had for years met with the Kitchen Tile Floor just before Thanksgiving last year.

So Thankful was I to find this Vintage Platter that I didn't take time to inspect the markings, design or craftsmanship.

Thanksgiving came and went and the platter took it's place in the Acorn China Cabinet.

Now here it is the Feature of this Thanksgiving Season and I'm wondering about it's  origin.....what if it's one those Rare Unmarked Treasures that all of the other Treasure Hunters overlooked.  It could be a SPODE or even a Johnson Brother's Collectable Platter.

Thanks Mary and all the Participants
for making Monday a
Favorite Day of the Week!

PS...Found it!  Not a Spode!  Not a Johnson!  Not a Problem!

It's a Nobody!  It's Mine!  It's an Acorn China Cabinet Keeper!

I like your turkey platter and not just because I used to have one just like it, but because it's pretty. It looks a lot like one my grandmother had.

Maybe I should go to the basement and see if my turkey platter is lurking around there. I can't remember what happened to mine, so it might still be around here someplace.

  15. It's a nice turkey platter - we had one like that when I grew up but I think it met it's fate with the floor too.

  18. I love that turkey platter! I have the coolest pig platter! I love serving the Easter ham on it! Hee Hee! I have always wanted this turkey platter. Must look for one! I had a huge Princess House Pavillion platter and two Thanksgiving years ago my sweets thought he turned the stove burner off and set the platter down to crave the turkey. Boom! That platter flew across the floor like a a rocket! Lucky for us the turkey was still safe inside the oven! Whew! Great post and terrific story! Anne

  19. Hello again! I just read your comment at my blog! Our oldest daughter is a H U G E Dallas Cowboy fan! My sweets tricked her and sent the sad story to her but replaced the Denver Broncos with the Cowboys! Boy was she mad! Hee Hee!

  20. Love this Sue, A real history lesson and it is fun too. The platter is a winner no matter what the origin. I have a beautiful ceramic Horn of Plenty but I don't know where it is hiding. HA! I must start hunting when I have time. That would not be today.
    Hugs, Jeanne

I love a nice looking turkey platter. When I met Hubby he had a big plastic one.... he STILL uses it, but he also is the cooker of the turkey so I indulge him and let him use the ugly platter each year.
