9/11 Pink Saturday...Remembering

Where were you when you heard the news?

I had just opened my shop...Sue's Quilt Shop in Historic Downtown Fort Stockton, Texas.  Had the coffee on, the cash register ready, the blinds raised, and the sewing stations ready for the StackNWhack quilting class.  The ladies began to arrive and started setting up to sew.  While we waited for the last lady to arrive, we visited, had coffee and donuts, passed out the pre-cut StackNWhack kits, and set up to sew.  Cindy came bursting through the front door appologizing for being late and saying, "I couldn't take my eyes off of CNN and the unbelieveable disaster in New York."  We all looked stunned and confused as she explained what had happened.  I immediately turned on my computer as I had no TV in the shop, and watched the early reports on the monitor.  Class was postponed.  We all went home and wept.

  2. Happy Pink Sweet Sue...
Oh my gosh, I love this tribute. Your whack n stack is the MOST beautiful quilt I have ever seen. Pinwheels that go round and round, just like our world. How absolutely breathtaking. This is one craft I have always wanted to do, but never have learned. So beautiful.

I love the Sunbonnet Sue for our sweet CC. She will be forever missed. She touched so many of our lives each day. She will be remembered forever in blogland. I love the little quilt that you added to the Sunbonnet Sue in honor of our sweet friend.

A beautiful post, by a beautiful sweet lady. Thank you Sue for sharing with me today. I love the quilt. You will forever be covered in love from America. Gorgeous sweetie.

Have a wonderful Saturday. Please remember you are so loved. I am so thrilled that you are back. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  6. Hello Sue, Your story is like so many stories that many will never forget. A very sad day for America. Each of us has a story about that day. What we were doing and the long days of trying to find survivors.

Your memory quilt is beautiful. I love the pin wheels in red, white and blue. A wonderful tribute showing the support of the many who lost their lives on 911.

The loss of CC has really touched my heart. She was a very sweet person and I loved her kind ways.
    She is missed.

    Hugs, Jeanne

  9. I remember every moment of that day. I couldn't wait for my daughter to get off the bus from school. I knew she was okay, but I just wanted my family around me and to know that they were safe and together we wept for the other families. Your quilt is a beautiful remembrance of a terrrible day. Thank you for sharing.
