A Sample of 'For Old Times Sake' Samplers

It's the quickest I have ever finished a Grandmothers Flower Garden Quilt.  Of course the others were Bed Size, Wall Size or Table Sized, and some of them were restored vintage quilts.  In the restoration process of vintage quilts there are always sections that must be cut out and trimmed away.  I keep every scrap.  After all, someone spent precious time, effort and material to make them...I so respect that.
I think the makers of these 'Treasured Scraps' would approve of the way I have
Restored and Repurposed their handwork.
I have had so many people say,
"My grandmother pieced a Flower Garden.  I wish I had saved it
For Old Times Sake."

  1. Hi Sue .. they are amazing and I love looking at them ... I'd frame them and hang them up .. I've some Victorian painted knapkins I was given and I had those framed ... they're packed at the moment, but I treasure the art work and meticulousness that went into craft work those years ago ..

These look keepers ... cheers Hilary

    1. Thanks, Ann. I really enjoy restoring and repurposing pieces. You are so fortunate to have your Grandmothers needle works. I have a few of my Grandmothers, and I too, love every thread.

  3. The orange and green piece reminds me of a quilt my mother-in-law made and that we have. Very bold colors and cheerful.
