Lace speaks to me! It speaks of History!
It speaks of Lace Collars, Lace Parasols, Lace Petticoats, Lace Linens, Lace Hankys, Lace, Lace and more Lace!
It has spoken to me so often that I have a Lace Collection!
Some of my Lace Collection is Very Vintage and Very Fragile.
Most all of the Vintage Lace Collection is Handmade.
Lace Needlework falls into these categories...to name a few:
Crochet
Knitting
Needlepoint
Tatting
and
Bobbin Lace
I've always wanted to learn to make Bobbin Lace.
It is NOT a Lost Art and NOT just for Old Ladies...as you can see and hear HERE.
My Sister Loves Lace, too.
Here we are, Two Texas Gals stepping back in Time!

Good morning Sue, Imagine me being your first comment. Smile. I too have a love for old and new lace.(Scottish lace) I have a collection that looks very much like yours. Bits and pieces of so many styles of the handmade treasures. The photo of you and your sister is darling. You both are so pretty. Love this sweet post.
ReplyDeleteWarm hugs and holiday wishes,
Jeanne
What a beautiful keepsake for the two of you. Such classic Texas Belles. I love lace too and have used it over the years as just a little trim on a store bought item. It really changes it. Lovely little collection.
ReplyDeleteI have seen people make bobbin lace at crafts fairs. Their fingers are so nimble.

ReplyDeletea lovely post about one of my favorite things too!
Ooooh, your lace is beautiful!!! That is a fun picture of you and your sister. What special event were you dressed for? My youngest sister has been learning to make bobbin lace. Yikes, I don't think I could ever do it.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely you both look Sue! Love your lace collection too! I have a few old pieces and I know what you mean when you say it speaks to you. Have a Merry Christmas!~Ames

I have always loved beautiful lace. I was the only one in my family who wanted my grandmother's lace pieces when she died. I treasure them.
ReplyDeleteLove the old Timey photo. So fun. The lace is pretty too and so vintage and classic.
ReplyDeleteI share your love ... i have a wonderful old cigar box full of lace, mostly made by my grandmother and great grandmother ... lace is such a thing of beauty!
ReplyDeleteOh the gorgeous arty-ness of lace! What a wonderful photo of you and your sister!
ReplyDeleteThere is a place in our city that teaches bobbin lace making. It is intricate and lovely...and not something I would have the patience to even attempt.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, though, about feeling the history in lace. It is so easy to image the work worn fingers creating such delicate beauty.
Thanks for a lovely top for Alphabe-Thursday.
