Quilting on the InterNet is a 'Realllllly BIG Thing', and back in 1998 when I was a Newbie on the WWW, I joined 'Quilt Talk', an InterNet Quilt Guild. It was there, I participated in my first Christmas Block Swap.
I made Twenty-four Ohio Star Blocks with the FussyCut Santa in the center....first block in the Strip. I received Twenty-four blocks from ladies from around the Whole Wide World. In the center block the BowTie Block from Ireland, the Wreath from Indiana, USA, the Ohio Star from Australia and the last block from Alaska....and the rest shown in the quilt.
The Christmas Swap Quilt has been displayed at Christmas Time in Our Home every year since 1998 and inspired a Collection of Quilt Ornaments and Quilt Motif Santas. All special gifts from Family and Friends.
The Quilt Collection is combined with my Fiesta Dinnerware by Homer Laughlin and Merry Christmas Glassware by Houze Glass Company for a Festive Christmas Table Setting.
I'm Linking To
I love the idea of a Christmas quilt, and it's on the list of things to do 'whenever'. In the meantime, I'll enjoy yours!
ReplyDeleteI just love this quilt! I took a quilting class in the early 90'. I only finished one quilt and handed it down to my daughter. I did it all by hand too. Now I have to work on quilts a block at a time on the sewing machine because I have arthritis. Everything at your place looks to festive! I better get cracking if I'm going to ever finish my holdiday decorating!~Ames
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful quilt. My Mom has some beautiful Christmas quilt squares and needs to find someone to put it together and quilt it for her. Do you know someone who does that?
ReplyDeleteEverything is so lovely. I have my dear MI's quilts and some squares and stuff because she can no longer see well enough to do it. I've never quilted before but hope to try in the spring when we get back up north.
ReplyDeleteQuilts are my weakness. I love yours. That was a neat way to make one. I do not attempt to make them, but enjoy seeing and have bought way too many. I just hope my family appreciates them when I am gone.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented! I think homemade Christmases are the BEST! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful MM and the entire blog is so bright and cheerful. It would be wonderful to be able to quilt like that. I have started but slow in getting anywhere. Will keep on trying. Blessings
