I Am A PhotoEntomologist

The fluttering of a butterfly's wings can effect climate changes on the other side of the planet. ~Paul Erlich

I am a PhotoEntomologist!!!  How do you like my new self proclaimed title?  I happened upon the idea yesterday while visiting MizMolley.  It was Labor Day and Mollye was talking about the hardest job she ever had was as a 'Screwdriver Girl' on an assembly line.  She went on to ask her Followers what was the hardest job they ever had.  It didn't take me long to come up with:

Hi MollyeGal... This is such a neat post, and I'm happy to say that I never had to work on an assembly line as the 'screwdriver girl'...that's all yours! I've had so many jobs over the years...being a Jack of All Trades and Master of None...I'd have to say the hardest was when I was a teenager chopping cotton as a summer job on my Uncles farm. OMGosh, I don't know how many weeds I missed, but I sure chopped down alot of cotton and ran outta that field lickety split throwing the hoe at the rattlesnakes. My Uncle decided I'd be more help in the kitchen...less things to run screaming to him about and more productive for cotton crop.

This past LongHot Texas Summer I got to practice my PhotoEntomology on several of the 'Drive About ShootOuts' with HiHoney.  The interesting thing about being a PhotoEntomologist is that you never know when you are going to get to put your Skills to good use.  The difference between me and Regular Entomologist...butterfly collectors who capture butterflies with a net then stick em with pins...is that I capture with NeatONikon then stick the stick in the puter.  The Skill in all that?
Well, it's all about 'Being In The Right Place at The Right Time'... you see ....

Butterflies are self propelled flowers. ~R.H. Heinlein
and
...... are flowers that fly and all but sing:
And now from having ridden out desire
They lie closed over in the wind and cling
Where wheels have freshly sliced the April mire
~Robert Frost~

PS....I sure do like my job as a PhotoEntomologist better than a CottonChopin' HoeThrower.

I've yet to encounter a Rattlesnake among the Butterflies.

But....I'm always watchin'....I might get the chance to be a PhotoSnakeCharmer...Yikes!!!

  1. I love getting those "up close and personal" photos also. We just got back from a camping trip and I got some shots of trees and flora out there. I love the look of a tree bark with sap running down it. Glad to be back! Squeeeeeeeal!!!! I hate camping. LOL

I took photos of butterflies yesterday too. They have been abundant around here this summer....maybe because of the cold cold winter...not sure why but I sure do like it. And they are crazy for my butterfly bushes. Did you know you can fix a broken butterfly wing with scotch tape...yep!...it's true. I could never buy one of those shadow boxes I see with the pinned butterflies in them. :) Good to see you back Sue.

Gorgeous butterfly, now do be careful of snakes. Rattlers are nothing to mess with my dear.

  6. You are so funny! Your butterfly shots are amazing! My dirtiest job was working in a bulb barn, fiddling with tulips bulbs that went by on a noisy conveyor belt. Dreary and boring. I like any job better than that!
