It's funny, even tho I am a hand quilter, I only use a thimble when I am sewing on binding, then it is one like you show at the top, made of leather. I have some with advertising, some ceramic, some plain but whalebone or tooth.<br />Thanks for lots of interesting information on the humble thimble.
